National Night Out in Cloquet
August 1, 2017

WKLK/WMOZ's A-SQUAD, Kerry Rodd and Jake Kachinske, were on hand August 1st, 2017 at Veteran's Park in Cloquet. The two broadcast live from "National Night Out," an event organized by several groups, including the Cloquet Police Department, Cloquet Area Fire District and WKLK/WMOZ Radio. Event organizers estimate about 1,000 people were served burgers and hot dogs, while neighbors met with other neighbors and local law enforcement for a great night out in the community to enjoy conversation, games, prize giveaways, activities and much more!


Mugs N Hugs Across the Northland
Spring, 2017

WKLK/WMOZ, along with area Masonic Lodges and several other partner agencies and volunteers, held another round of MUGS n Hugs events across the Northland. The public awareness events are held so that authorities can get important personal information into the hands of parents should their child or children ever go missing. Participants were also given a free souvenir mug with a root beer float inside, potato chips from Old Dutch and other take-home gifts. Mugs and Hugs events were held in May and June at Benna Ford in Superior, Savers in Duluth and Wade Stadium in Duluth during a Duluth Huskies game. Mugs and Hugs events are also held in Moose Lake and Cloquet each year.

Cloquet Senior High School Mock Crash
April 20, 2016

On April 20th, Cloquet Senior High, Cloquet Area Fire District, Toward Zero Deaths Initiative, Cloquet Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, CAT-7 TV, WKLK/WMOZ Radio and several other local agencies put on a "mock crash" involving the Cloquet Senior High student body. The event was staged along 22nd Street in Cloquet and started with an audio clip of the students texting/drinking and driving then following the "mock crash" of the vehicles involved, the fire/police/ambulance personnel on scene went through the process that would usually be involved if it were a real crash scene. The rainy event was followed by a guest speaker, Matt Logan, whose daughter was killed in a distracted driving accident in 2012.

Sillies on the Sidewalk
March 24, 2017

As part of March's Foodshare Month to help re-stock area food shelves, WKLK and WMOZ took to the streets on Friday, March 24th for the Annual "Sillies on the Sidewalk" campaign (formerly "Goofs on the Roof"). Jake and Kerry from the A-Squad took in food and monetary donations from generous listeners during the morning show in Cloquet, while Dwight Cadwell broadcast "LIVE" from Marketplace Foods in Moose Lake during the 3-hour run, taking in donations there. In all, around $1,700 in dollars and pounds of food was gathered to help the Salvation Army Food Shelf in Cloquet, the Moose Lake Food Shelf and the Tri-Community Food Shelf in Cromwell.

Carlton County Fair "Kiss a Pig" Fundraiser
August 21, 2016

Held at the Carlton County Fair on Sunday, August 21st. Kerry Rodd of WKLK/WMOZ Radio, along with several other local distinguished individuals, kicked off a fundraising campaign to build a new barn at the Carlton County Fairgrounds in Barnum. As the top fundraiser, Kerry Rodd's prize was to "Kiss a Pig" on the final day of the fair. Rodd raised around $1,300, and a total of about $2,600 was raised to kick off the "Build a Barn" campaign.
